Happy Solstice and Merry Christmas

December 21, 2009

Finally …. the shortest days of the year are here!  Around here, in northern Ohio, the sun comes up at around 7:55am and sets at about 5:00pm.  Today was a winter day… grey and low cloud cover.  Light snow cover on most tree branches … Perfect.

While I don’t have very profound things to write, I do love to mark the significant points of the passing of the year, especially the solstice, summer and winter.  Now the energy of rebirth begins.  Though slow and nearly invisible at first, it will, in a matter of weeks be evident.  Life goes on.

Merry Christmas to all who celebrate the birth of Christ.  Tim and I are off to services on Christmas Eve.

This time of the year seems to give people permission to appreciate those around them and show that with gifts.  I’ve been having some fun with that, and plan to make some small gifts of food for a few of my new friends here in town.  I hope you tell those, whom you love, what they mean to you.

What a lovely and thoughtful message; it catches what really counts. My only beef is your claim that your thoughts aren’t very profound. They must be, as I’m sure they will stick long after I close the blog posting.

    Merry Christmas to you both.

    Dear Liz,

Life is full of beginnings. May the new year be full of wonder, song, health victories, blossoming friendships, and strengthening faith.

Un abrazo for the spunkiest fighter I know. May God fill the year ahead with more joy than you ever imagined.

    Love to you and Tim.
