Housing Turnaround Update

January 22, 2009
by

In short….We have a contract on the Oberlin house!  The sellers accepted an offer at a deep discount.  We will sign the contract with the new numbers on it sometime tomorrow I think.  They were going to get a second opinion on the structural report…When they spoke with another engineer, they were told that our inspector is the best in the area and they would not find any different results…they called off their inspection.

We are planning to tear the house down and build new.  The next few weeks we are gathering info about permits from the city, builders and architects.  The assurance from the city that we can build is very important to have before we close on the property.

And, in answer to much prayer, we have found a sunny apartment pretty much right across the street from the property.  We will be able to easily enjoy the pleasures of the town and also be right on hand for construction of our house.

I think we will be moving around March when the apartment is available…Still waiting for the date on that.

We are excited and pooped!

UPDATE: Hi!  It is Tuesday…Just wanted to tell all that the contract has been signed by the sellers.  “Hold onto your hair!” is the only thing I can think of to say.  Feels like a stiff wind behind us blowing us out of here…and fast.  The apartment is avail on March 1.  We are making an application today to secure it.  There is much to do to prepare.

If you are praying, please pray that the move goes well.  We also have to organize our tax prep a little early and say goodbye to friends all over the place… Thank God for the telephone!  On top of that I have anxiety about health issues, and a lymph cord in my bad arm that goes all the way down to my wrist…A new development and one that is very painful, and I cannot get it to release.  It scares me.  Please pray that I don’t develop lymphodema in that arm.

Wow! May the LORD ee this through. You have quite an education ahead. Designing and getting your own house built.

I am sorry you have lost more friends. There is no substitute. I hope you get the time to mourn.

    Lunch? You say when.

WOW!!! This is very exciting. A new journey for the two of you. Working with City officials can be exasperating, but keep at them. I hope you have good communicators working on your behalf. Lots of Love and prayers. Karen and Roy

Hi Karen, Angela, and Martha! I’m so happy that you are celebrating with us! Thanks for your good wishes….
So far the city planning folks seem very reasonable, and the lawyer who is writing the addendem to our contact regarding permissions to build, is on the planning commission…so…We are not seeing a difficult situation. Please continue to pray for easy passage of building plans, and the hiring of the right people to do the project with us.

We are taking the apartment across the street…a very nice place…I cannot wait to have everyone over and have a party! Before the party..anyone who wants to come over and keep us company while we settle in….come on over! I’ll be sure to let you know when we get to town!
