The Healthy Life Plan – Heavy Metal Detox : Part 1

May 27, 2008

Metals toxicity? Who me????? Oh Yeah! I think you can pretty much count on it! If you are alive, and drink water and breath air and live on the planet, you have some level of heavy metal poison.

I did some testing last year and found some alarming levels of Mercury and Arsenic and Aluminium and Lead. The Mercury and Aluminium scared me the worst. I was thinking that there is far more to talk about than I want to do in a single post. So let’s spread it out a bit, talk about different metals and the mischief they cause, and what I am doing about it.

First the Mercury. Everyone who I have told has said…where did you manage to get so much mercury?! Well, here is my best guess, not necessarily in order…Dental fillings…Did you know that silver dental fillings are 50% mercury by weight?, My studies tell me that there is enough mercury in one dental filling to force the closing of a 10 acre lake. sheese….that thermometer I broke in my room was probably enough to evacuate the town. I had those mercury fillings for 25 years, and no one took care to minimize exposure when they were put in , or removed. Plus the fact that they continue to leach mercury every day that they are there. The official position of the American Dental Association is that there is no danger. hmmmm. I can say that, if you are ever in the mood for a really good lecture, the kind that you might remember from when you were a VERY small child, in just that tone of voice, just mention the dangers of mercury fillings to almost any dentist. I know…I have…oh boy! Oh, yeah, loose mercury…pretty hard to pick up, did I mention that? Vaccinations…, of which I have had a bunch, and some with pretty severe reactions. I wonder if there was mercury in that last tetanus shot I got in 1996. I ran a pretty high fever after that and was in bed for a couple of days. And I ate a LOT of tuna fish in cans when I was in graduate school…it was simply the easiest thing in the short time between getting home from work and going to school. My studies tell me that mercury is also in adhesives, fabric softeners, (which, by the way, if you use them I recommend that you stop right now! they are completely unnecessary and you can live without the extra chemical exposure! Extra editorial comment: no extra charge!) talc powder, cosmetics, and floor wax. I’m sure there are more things.

Mercury is a really bad neuro-toxin. It can strip the mylon sheath right off a nerve cell, and kill it. It causes brain damage, heart disease, tremors, and depression. It depresses the immune system and that, my friends, can make it really hard to fight cancer.

My levels of mercury were very high. The test indicated that any level below 4 was considered ok. My adjusted test level was 14. I really got a shock at the raw score which was 28. I did the 6 hour challenge test. The lab scores the six hour tests differently. In my opinion, any score is not good!

The sneaky thing about metals is that they look just like nutrients that the body needs. Mercury looks like Selenium to the body. Most people are deficient in Selenium…so the body thinks it sees it and says, Oh good! except it is not so good. The mercury gets taken into the deepest fabric of the body and does a lot of damage, and is invisible to the body. It is really hard to get out. It is possible, though!

Ok, now, after reading all this…go over, right now, to the funny stories and jokes part of this blog and have a laugh…you’ll feel better! Add a new joke to the collection…we all need a laugh.

More on metals and what to do about them in the next days. I promise there is something to do about it, and more test scores when I re-test sometime around the end of June.

    Hey Liz
Wow, this is great info. Can you tell me where to get tested? Do you have to send it out or can you go to a local lab?
    I want to get tested!

I’ve used Doctors Data for these tests.

There may be other places to go…
I’m so glad you were able to stop by!

I am using an EDTA suppository called Medicardium. If you click on His Design for Health to the right, Donna can get some for you. (she also has other things that detox plastics and other undesirable stuff.) I’m doing another round of it and cleaning up the metals with coffee enemas and chorella and another Clay supplement. Got to escort these pesky metals OUT! As soon as I finish, I’ll do a Doctor’s Data challenge test. I think I’ll have to use DMSA, which is taken by mouth. I don’t think I can arrange an EDTA IV. Doctor’s Data tests are not calibrated for anything but the EDTA IV. I won’t be able to get Aluminum readings with DMSA…I think that if the other readings are lower, then the Aluminum is also lower.
I’m sorry to hear that Bueller is also testing high…I’ll have to write to her and see what her scores are, and what she wants to do about it.
Do you think you might want to test with Doctor’s Data? We could all compare notes 🙂
