Initial report

April 30, 2007
by

5:45pm. Liz made it through the surgery successfully and is doing well. The doctors removed the lump, which was about 1 cm in size. Unfortunately they also found a malignancy in the sentinel lymph node and so removed all lymph nodes in the left armpit. A pathology report will come in about a week that will indicate if any other nodes were involved. They have left a drain in place, as is typical in this type of procedure.

Given the lymph node situation, the doctors recommend chemotherapy and radiation to follow, so decisions will need to be made about chemo and radiation in a couple of weeks.

Please continue prayers and pray for Tim in particular at this stage.

Liz will be released from the hospital Tuesday and they will go to Ruth and Stan’s home as noted earlier and will stay there for the next week. Cards and flowers sent there are welcome (leave a comment here if you would like the address e-mailed to you); Ruth and I recommend holding off on phone calls for the time being. Blog comments are best.

Liz and Tim, Our prayer was that the surgery would find and remove all the cancer for a better recovery. Thankfully the cancer in the lymph node was discovered and future treatment can be considered with that in mind. Tim, we know you will be quite occupied in the coming week, but know we are right there with you. (Chances are we will be around if you care to phone and talk, too. 703-538-5169)

Rest well in the Lord and seek His comfort and healing power. Love and blessings, Bob and Peggy

So very glad you are through the surgery. The lymph node involvement was not what we prayed for, but we shall renew our prayers mightily for your treatment and healing and for God’s presence, joy and peace to be with you both.

We would also like the address. Call us anytime, otherwise we will meet you here. We send much love. Richard & Audrey.

    Dearest Ones,

You are very much in my thoughts and prayers today. My ongoing prayer is that you will always be abundantly aware of God’s presence; that even in the midst of tests and reports and decisions and treatments you would have constant assurance of His abiding love for you both.

    Blessings and peace,
    Annie

Oh, my dear ones! That’s what I’m thinking now — how dear and special you are to me, and –obviously — to many, many people. (For your other friends, I will tell briefly the connection – Tim made a blind call to Cleveland re a website & a strawbale house I picked up the phone and we have been friends since. When I met Liz, I knew immediately she could have been one of my sisters — tho she IS much funnier than any us.)

So, dear Liz — you are one of the strongest, most resillient people I know. And with all of these friends and God on your side, you are gonna come out okay.

So, dear Tim — this must be very hard on you. We all know how you adore Liz! (And she, you!) But you, too, are one of God’s special, strong and resillient ones.

Maybe this should go under the “prayers” section — At the Carmelite Monestary where I attend mass, one of the nuns has offered prayers the last two Sundays for those with cancer, especially breast cancer. She hasn’t named anyone in particular. I will put your name in the special intentions book – these incredible women pray nearly a-l-l the time — in their chapel and as they do chores and garden and walk in the woods.

May God’s love and the healing light surround you both. David & I look forward to rejoicing with you both over the sweetness of life and found friends.
    Love — Pat

Dear Liz and Tim, George and I continue to pray for you. I echo the request for the address to send you notes. If you post it in the next posting that will help everyone. You are so loved and It is wonderful to hear you are up and able to write if only a bit.

This weekend at TFC we are having a special healing conference and you will be included in all the prayers as we are going to be there.

Love and prayers, Neil and George
